- New LAMS Course Schedule Available
The Coast Guard Leadership and Management School (LAMS) Course Schedule (PDF: 64 KB / 3 pages) for 2006 and the first half of 2007 is now available from the Training Resource Center. Auxiliarists must be available to attend the full five days of the workshop. The directions for how to register for each type of LAMS course are also included. If you have an opportunity to attend a LAMS course, it will be time well spent.

- “C” School Takes To The Road
When a scheduled Public Affairs “C” School had to be cancelled for circumstances beyond control a group of North Carolina Auxiliarists decided that the training was too important to forgo. They decided that if they couldn’t travel to the training, the training, with planning, could come to them. - New Member Training Program Available
A new “Value-Added” program from the National Training Department is now available for members. This program, New Member Integration – The First Six Months (PDF: 576 KB / 21 pages) is a self-paced program that helps members to understand the difference between orienting a new member and integrating a new member into the flotilla. The program then offers a simple team-based process to ensure that new members feel welcome, valued and supported in the critical first six months of membership. If retaining new members is important to you, check out this new program.

- Thinking Outside The Box
Continuous working with a non-traditional Recreational Boating Safety (RBS) partnership paid off for Flotilla 3-10, D5-SR and its partner, Woodland Academy . Three students at the private school in Virginia won acclaim by participating in the National Safe Boating Council’s nationwide essay contest called “Why I Wear My Life Jacket”. They were the only contest winners in Virginia . Read how this Flotilla stays involved with outside agencies, now on SITREP, the Auxiliary’s National e-magazine.

- 2005 Boating Accidents Statistics Published
The Boating Statistics 2005 report (PDF: 908 KB / 48 pages) is now available from the Department of Boating. The report contains statistics on registered boats and recreational boating accidents, and information on boating safety activities for calendar year 2005.

- Auxiliary Policy Statement Issued
ADM Thad Allen, Commandant of the Coast Guard, has signed the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Policy Statement. This one page document clearly outlines the Auxiliary's goals and charges the active duty and reserve components to fully engage the Auxiliary at every command level. This policy statement firmly places the Auxiliary in Coast Guard mission planning and execution.

- New Operations & Marine Safety Web Site
We are pleased to announce the completion and availability of the Operations and Marine Safety (OMS) web site. The site features many valuable documents concerning contingency/surge response planning and links to Auxiliary and non-Auxiliary sites that are helpful in this area. A model Auxiliary Sectorization plan is also featured.

- 2006 Best Of Web Awards Announced At NACON
The best examples of Auxiliary websites were honored at NACON 2006. The webmasters of these winning sites have spent countless hours creating engaging and effective websites that deliver the Auxiliary message in a highly professional manner. The winning websites for 2006 were: Flotilla 01-04 of District 11 Southern; Division 2 of District 9 Western; District 13. Winners receive a certificate, along with a 5 Star Logo for their websites and a crystal trophy, presented to their DCO. The runner-up websites were: Flotilla 04-05 of District 9 Eastern; Division 7 of District 13; District 7. Runners-up receive a certificate and 1 Star logo for permanent display on their websites. All Auxiliary sites are encouraged to enter the Best Of Web 2007 competition. Complete details are made available in the CS Guide.

- CG Auxiliary Association Announces New Affiliation
The Coast Guard Auxiliary Association has affiliated with Entertainment Publications, publishers of the Entertainment Book. With 156 local editions though the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada, each local edition contains discount coupons for use locally, nationally and internationally for services, food, air travel and more. Auxiliary members and the general public can purchase the book through ShopAuxiliary.com. The Association in turn receives a royalty from Entertainment Publications to support Auxiliary programs.
